Rise in COVID-19 cases could be early sign of ‘a possible resurgence’ as state says local health departments with waning vaccination demand can expand eligibility

Officials on Friday reported 3,002 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19, the highest count since 3,062 cases were reported Feb. 6. The state has averaged 2,061 new daily cases over the past week, topping 2,000 for the first time since mid-February.
