Urbikas’ attorney, a public defender, said he suffers from mental illness, and was born and raised in Chicago, where he has lived for most of his entire life. He beat cancer, which he was diagnosed with in 2004 during high school, but still graduated the next year and went on to take business classes at Northeastern Illinois University and Truman College, the attorney said.
