Beginning early Friday and lasting until about 4 a.m., “a brief period of gusts of 55-60 mph are possible near Lake Michigan,” at the south end of the lake, most likely in Indiana but also possible along the lakefront in Cook County, according to the weather service. Experts warned area residents to secure outdoor objects, such as tents, umbrellas and lawn furniture well ahead of the storm’s late-night arrival.
