Mayor Lori Lightfoot says investigation into attack on alderman outside River North bar is appropriate: ‘We have an obligation to investigate it’

“Of course we want to do an investigation. We want to make sure that, as any resident who has been a victim of any kind of battery or assault, we have an obligation to investigate it,” the mayor said at an unrelated news conference. “Obviously, because of his position, I want to make sure also that he wasn’t targeted. So an investigation is appropriate, and that’s what’s being done.”
