Man dies after snow-covered awning collapses in Pullman, in first Chicago roof cave-in fatality

One man was trapped before being rescued by fire officials and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead about 5:30 p.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office, which identified the man as Randy Pate Sr., 54, of the West Pullman neighborhood.
