Investigators say Dyer was sitting in the back seat of a car parked at a gas pump and was struck in the head by one of at least 16 bullets fired in what became a shootout between the 18-year-old, identified as Malik Perteet, and his alleged attackers, according to police. Perteet was struck by gunfire three times, police said.
