Illinois close to having 70% of residents 65 and older vaccinated, but rising COVID-19 hospitalizations and cases will prevent state from opening up further

As of Sunday night, 1,352 people in Illinois were hospitalized with COVID-19, with 280 patients in intensive care units and 128 patients on ventilators. The seven-day average of total hospitalizations is 1,301, the highest since an average of 1,322 was recorded March 2.
