The accident took place at 4:22 a.m. when the car left the roadway and struck a tree in the parkway at 7955 W. Grand Avenue, said Elmwood Park Deputy Police Chief Andrew Hock. The driver, 30-year-old Alexander Rivas, of the 1000 block of North Karlov Avenue, Chicago, died on impact, Hock added.
