Contreras, who turns 29 next month, has worn his emotions on his sleeve since his rookie season in 2016, when he began taking playing time away from starter Miguel Montero and his backup, Ross. He’s made two All-Star teams since and has become a fan favorite on the North Side, but still doesn’t get the recognition he deserves as one of the game’s best catchers.
