It’s on the city seal. Mayor Richard J. Daley, then later Mayor Richard M. Daley, liked to celebrate with giant birthday cakes, always for the city incorporation date, which also happened to be the birthday of Eleanor “Sis” Daley, the elder Daley’s wife and the younger Daley’s mother.
