Since the city’s official weather recording location is at O’Hare International Airport, farther inland than lake effect snow often pushes, however, it is not a foregone conclusion. During the most recent snowfall, for example, Evanston had more than 18 inches of snow while Chicago’s official tally was 7.5 inches, despite the greatest total snowfall, a whopping 18.6 inches, occurring in the city’s West Ridge neighborhood.
