According to Josh Robbins of the Athletic, if the pick does not convey this season, the Magic will have another chance at a first-round pick in 2022, but with slightly lighter protections (top three instead of four). If, after picking in the top four this year, the Bulls are also picking in the top three after next season then the pick would convert into a pair of second-round picks. So, Orlando would lose its chance at that first rounder.
