Take that with a grain of salt, of course. Four years ago, the Bears had a deep contingent at the pro day of Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson but never conducted an extensive in-person visit or a private workout with him. Despite sending Pace, coach John Fox, offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains, quarterbacks coach Dave Ragone and director of player personnel Josh Lucas to the Clemson campus, the Bears’ interest in Watson was minimal. Instead, that quintet left Clemson and made stops at the University of North Carolina and Texas Tech, where they visited and conducted private workouts with Mitch Trubisky and Patrick Mahomes, respectively.
Chicago Bears GM Ryan Pace and coach Matt Nagy expected to be interested observers at Alabama’s pro day for QB Mac Jones
