Chicago area could get slushy snow this chilly Tuesday as freeze warning in effect, forecasters say

Low temperatures also will accompany the precipitation and the National Weather Service suggests all freeze-intolerant plants be covered or taken inside. A freeze warning has been issued for all of northern Illinois from Tuesday night to Wednesday morning, as overnight low temperatures will drop to the high 20s in some areas, with higher temperatures in Chicago itself, according to the weather service. For most of Indiana, the warning extends until 7 a.m. Thursday.
