Temperatures hit a high of 87 degrees Tuesday, tying the daily record from 1986. By evening, at the Northerly Island weather station on Chicago’s downtown lakefront, temperatures dropped “30 degrees in 20 minutes” from 6:45-7:05 p.m., the weather service tweeted. The cool weather should persist through Wednesday, with temperatures in the high 40s along the lakefront and mid 50s further inland, said meteorologist Brian Leatherwood.
