Saffold, of Chicago Heights, was 32 when she died April 6 from causes related to COVID-19. Her mother, Octavia Saffold, copes by leaning on her family and attending grief counseling groups, but carrying on her daughter’s tradition at the park helps too. When she walks, she said, she can hear the catchphrase her daughter repeated over and over.
