Aside from starter Willson Contreras and Romine, the Cubs have two catchers left in big-league camp: non-roster invitees Jose Lobaton and P.J. Higgins. Miguel Amaya, the only other catcher on their 40-man roster, was optioned to Double-A Tennessee before Friday’s game. Ross didn’t sound worried about Romine’s status at this point in camp. He pointed to Lobaton’s experience and the confidence he has in Higgins, if they’re needed.
