The high school has nine active coronavirus cases, four them students who attended school in person, triggering contact tracing protocol, said Kent Mutchler, Geneva School District 304 superintendent. Guidance from the Kane County Health Department and Illinois Department of Public Health says students can safely sit 3 feet apart at school, but contact tracing protocol requires all students within 6 feet to quarantine if they are exposed to a positive COVID-19 case, resulting in 7.5% of the student body being placed in quarantine.
